I am working on quit smoking. The patch didn't work as it made me very sick and I had a reaction to it. I decided to go cold turkey, but the cravings and habit are a challange to fight. I am down to one cigarette a day for all of last week and my goal is to completely stop when this pack is gone.
Doing my first whole30, I need to eat healthier!
Now that I think about it, I have quite a few healthy habits! Lots of water, no soda, no artificial sweeteners... I guess my favorite is that I grow and use my own herbs and other food as much as possible. It's a huge learning experience but I have help and it's rewarding. I'm working on eating less sugar, which is why I am on Day 10 of my first Whole30. 🙂
I started making major lifestyle changes after reading "It Starts With Food" by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig. This book explains exactly why the bad foods are bad, and why the good foods are good for you. As someone who works in the healthcare field, everything they talked about made so much sense, so I knew the paleo diet was not just another fad.
One healthy habit I have gained since reading this book is to stop snacking after dinner, which was something I used to do all the time! The book explained how this really messes up your hormone levels and makes it harder to fall asleep, not to mention that snacking leads to more grazing. Now I sleep like a baby 🙂
My husband and I are working eating more whole foods, more healthy fats, and drinking more water. We're also cutting out the snacking and the refined carbs and sugars.
I'm in no position to offer healthy habit advice, but I'm trying very hard to stick to the Paleo diet this year. My healthy habit goal is to do a weekly cooking session, as is recommended in Well Fed. I'm tired of defaulting to take out because I don't feel like cooking or we have to work late, take pets to vet--whatever would get in the way of cooking dinner on a work night.
Having a csa. The constant supply of fresh veggies really inspires me to work even more produce into my diet.
I just started my whole30 challenge this week. I'm 6 days in and I'm excited to report...I'm doing it!
In addition to following the paleo lifestyle, I exercise 6 times a week, rotating various cardio sessions with weights intense sessions so as not to put too much of a strain on any one muscle group.
I stopped eating refined sugars, white flours and processed foods. I lost over 40lbs!
I'm trying to eat more veggies, so my goal for the new year is to try one new preparation a week or one new vegetable. This week was zucchini noodles (zoodles?) and it was home run!!
I have been crossing for about seven months and love it. I have recently been looking into Paleo eating and have been incorporating it gradually into my diet. Even with the small changes I feel better! I do need to expand my cooking skills so new cookbooks would help!
The best thing I've done is a Whole30. I'm now doing another post-holiday one to get myself back on track.
I'm going to bed earlier, using less tech before bed, and continuing to meal plan! Great giveaway-- both books are on my wish list!
I've been consistantly walking, now it's time to start lifting heavy!
My boyfriend and I completed whole30 back in October after falling into the comfort of our relationship and enjoying dinners out and Michigan craft beer a bit too much. 🙂 After the 30 days we stayed pretty paleo, but started slipping over the holidays. Last week I started my second whole30 month, and even though he's wavered, I'm holding strong! 🙂
I have been doing CrossFit for over a year and a half. I love it! along with CrossFit comes being mindful of what you put into your body. These cookbooks would be very helpful with learning new healthy recipes! I love drinking lemon water when I first get up. I love learning new ideas on healthy eating! 🙂
Would love her cookbooks! Just started eating Paleo 6 months ago, and has solved some heakth issues. My goal is to eat more veggies this year.
I am making sure to drink lots of water throughout the day. I am also eating mostly unprocessed foods (I still like a little Almond Joy creamer in my coffee...).
I've been doing a daily green smoothie and weight training 3 days a week.
