and 1 more Monday left until SCHOOL IS OUT!
What a day. Last week we had the ever fun, suffer in silence while the 3rd grade next door took their state standardized tests. There is nothing fun about 24 kindergarten kids having to be absolutely silent for 3 hours at time. But, we all hung in there and got through the week. The class next door REALLY appreciated the quiet. I was given the best teacher gift I could imagine. Bacon and chocolate!
Friday, I woke up with a sore throat and stuffy head. Saturday morning, I was camped out at the dr. an hour before they opened. Within 12 minutes, the nurse pract. had seen me, the other nurse had given me my 2 shots, and all that was left was a quick once-over from the doctor. I waited another 20 minutes for him to come in and tell me I tested positive for strep-throat.
I have 2 big races this weekend. In the words of Sweet Brown, my time is not so plentiful that it can handle strep throat. I need relief and FAST. The shots worked great until Sunday night and the ever familiar pressure in the ears and head started up again.
Today was an effort in survival. The kids knew I was sick since I couldn’t talk so they were on their best behavior. By 3pm all I wanted was unconsciousness. I settled for a boiling hot shower with one of these things. Instant relief, but short lived.
My food today was all about nutrition. Junk food doesn’t help the body fight off this plague. Morning protein shake with almond butter. Lunch was chicken soup with kale.
Dinner was General Tso’s Chicken and Cauliflower Rice.
And at some point, I had to do some stretching and moving. I couldn’t gather the energy to get on the treadmill.
Yoga is always a good choice!
And finally, time to crash. I love this stuff to help me breathe better at night.
The tuesday had better be kind tomorrow.
