Last week of October…

I’m a little sad. I love these weeks of September/October because they bring in the slow start to the holiday season. But once Halloween is over, the Christmas Express jumps to warp speed. Before I can blink twice, I’m surrounded by tissue paper shreds and the lingering scent of winter loathing. When the candles and lights go out, all that’s left is the dark, dank, doom of January.

On that chipper note, let’s just enjoy this last week of October, shall we?

I got a head start to all the joy. I was wide awake at 2:30 am. What to do? Run. A lot. I’m trying out some new shoes. I think they have magical powers because I have run more in the past 2 weeks than I have in the previous 2 months. Of course, there were some extenuating circumstances in Aug/Sept that stalled my running progress.

Frankie astounds me. He hates the treadmill. Every time I bring it down, he seeks higher ground and watches me from a couch across the room. He doesn’t just go to another room. He has to watch every step. Within 5 minutes of turning it off, he’s jumping up there for a thinking session.

Morning coffee. Bulletproof. Full octane. I have a feeling it’s going to be a LONG day.

I could get used to this. Every. Day.

It wasn’t a bad day. I’m very thankful the “bad” days at school are a thing of the past. We still have challenging days and challenging kiddos, but the overall morale is just so much better. It’s a great place to spend my days and I wouldn’t trade being a K teacher for anything.

That being said, I needed a little nip in my tea. Since I don’t need the calories in booze, I opted for this. It worked just as good. I guess….
