Kidnapped and Cookies

Before I was kidnapped by my friends, I got stuck with a bunch of needles.

This was the first set of serum needles to see if any of them showed a reactions. And obviously….they did. Then she used about 10-15 on each upper arm to see if they showed reactions. Those were of lesser concentration and I didn’t have to wait long at all for them react. As soon as she saw and felt a reaction, she wiped it off.

Why am I doing this? Three reasons:

1. I was on allergy shots in Memphis for 2.5 years and I did experience relief in seasonal sinus infections.

2. My sinus infections have grown steadily worse with each year. I can pinpoint the week that I will begin the season with one. It is USUALLY the second week in September and I’ll have 5-6 sinus infections until March/April. I can’t keep doing this.

3. Stephen said get back on shots or we will have separate bedrooms. Apparently, I am more restless when I’m sick.

So what was the verdict? I had an allergic reaction to the following:

  • Dust
  • 4 of 5 molds
  • all pollen
  • 2 of the 4 Grasses
  • 6 of the 7 Trees
  • all 4 weeds

Those weeds are the ones that bring on the fall misery. The pollen and grasses are easier to defend against with nasal sprays and anti-histamines. Next week, I will start immunology with 3 allergy shots a week. As much of a hassle this will be, I hope for ANY relief from these infections.

After that dr, I went to do blood work for post-D&C. I have to go back next week for another follow-up.

THEN, I met up with some friends who were determined to NOT let me sit home and be sad all day. I had taken the day off work for both appointments. And it is the 2 week mark since the miscarriage, 1 week mark since the surgery. I woke up sad this morning and it was overwhelming. I was fine and happy last night and I got seriously great sleep until 3:30am. And it was a battle getting myself dressed and out of the house. My friends came to the rescue and whisked me off to Guwin, AL to do some retail therapy and celebrate Kaye’s birthday!

Cookies for the birthday girl. (tomorrow is GAME DAY. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it here…*sarcasm font*) These are from Mary’s Cakes and Pastries in Northport.

I can’t describe how good these were. Even better than my homemade with regular flour cookies. Chewy, gooey, and perfect!

This little beauty found its way to my bag.

After we tried on clothes and bought a few, we hightailed it back to Tuscaloosa for a big birthday celebration at our favorite hangout, Los Torascos. Kaye received a completely fitting shirt for her that read “I’m not anti-social. I’m anti-stupid”. That is so true! We all laughed until we cried and it was the perfect way to spend the day. In fact, it was the best Friday in a very long time. Things are looking bright personally and professionally and I’m excited to say goodbye to August and bring on the official start to the fall season for me. SEPTEMBER!
