It’s almost February, which means it’s almost time to reflect on the first month of 2015. I know many of us make resolutions or make goals or at least re-focus ourselves to some type of self-improvement around the start of each new year. How are things going for you? Whether it’s a goal for better home-or-work cleaning, best use of commute time, personal fitness, quality of family time, or maybe weight-loss goal, this is a great time to look back on January 1 to check our commitments.
For myself, I have set some lofty fitness goals, but I only have 2 goals for 2015.
-
Running-I want a PR in the half-marathon and I want to finish 2015 in the middle of a serious marathon training cycle. I’m looking at New Orleans Rock ‘n’ Roll 2016.
-
CrossFit- I want to see gains across the board from where I am now. Heavier lifts, heavier max-weight, better mobility, and the unassisted pull-up.
In order to reach these goals, I’m going to spend a lot of time in workout gear. Both of my goals are fitness and sports-related so I’m looking for pieces that are durable, functional, and comfortable. Comfort is a huge selling point for me. Exposed and scratchy seams, too-short arms, and tights that fit my CrossFit behind but not my smaller natural waist are details in which I have to pay close attention or I will waste my money. Thanks to Target® C9, I may have found the perfect outfit for working out this winter.
This C9 Women’s Pullover meets my requirements. It’s made of Duo Dry Max, which means it’s breathable and has wicking material so my shirt dries quickly while I’m running and sweating. It’s also very comfortable and the added bonus is longer arms! Finding a shirt that is semi-fitted but with long enough arms is very difficult for me. I will add more of these to my collection.
For my tights, I was a little nervous. I have a box full of tights that do not work with my body type. By “body type,” I mean a body that lifts heavy weights and has the behind to prove it. Once I get a great fit for my butt and hips, I usually have the dreaded waist-gap. My waist is small and higher up on my torso. I crossed my fingers and took 3 pairs of tights into the dressing room. The hardest part of my night was deciding which pair to choose. All 3 fit correctly no matter which way I jumped, moved, and twisted. Getting that pull-up is going to take a lot of time and effort in CrossFit class. I need tights that could handle the work I’m putting into my fitness goals. I finally chose these Target® C9 by Champion® Women’s Advanced Performance Capri Leggings. They have the same performance wicking material, which is extremely important to women who sweat..a lot. The seams are reinforced but not exposed to soft skin. The best part is the wider waistband. It did not roll or move away from my natural waist.
I was excited to put these into action. I tried a short and fast sprint session to see how the waist in my leggings would perform. The band stayed on my waist! I was so thrilled to NOT have to do the pull-up and shimmy on my walk and water break. And the shirt stayed dry, was long enough to cover my behind, and look at the arms! I’m way too excited about longer arm sleeves. I like them to come half-way down my hands, and I have long arms for my shorter stature. I got a larger size because I do like a looser fit that works with running and the variety of movements in CrossFit. These are new staples in my fitness gear collection and I will certainly shop for more colors of these same pieces. Thank you Target® C9!
