The next few weeks are going to be equally exhilarating and exhausting with a whole bunch of hectic thrown in. The mad rush, the long lists, the loads of rich food, the workouts thrown to the side to make way for more rushes, lists, and food. It’s a time of year I look forward to, however, I know how much stress the holidays can cause.
That’s where yoga comes to the rescue. And I’m talking to those who have never tried it or who have tried it once and said “never again”. This time of year is PERFECT for learning a few key yoga sequences for at least 2 reasons:
- It’s an easy way to de-stress
- It’s a workout all on its own
For beginners, think of yoga as a new way to say “stretching with a focus” and that focus is to unwind and breathe deeply. Sounds easy, right? Considering I have never taken a yoga class or used a yoga app, I’m hoping it is as easy as I think it will be. I know I won’t be sharing my pretzel moves anytime soon on IG, but I do know that any kind of flexibility work is only going to improve my running and CrossFit gains. And that’s just the physical perks. The stress reduction is definitely a perk, too.
Since I do not have pictures of myself on the yoga mats, here are a few links to some good places to start. Grab a mat and some easy breezy clothes that you feel most comfortable wearing. Let’s do this!
