This morning, I woke up after a HARD sleep. It was one of those not sure where I was and what I was supposed to do next kind of sleeps. After a hot shower and coffee, all was good again.
Breakfast cups and scramble.
Coffee for the road. I still have a hard time with the first few sips. It tastes bitter to me. But then I remember that 8 days ago, I was drinking this same cup with 1/8 cup…CUP of sugar. So I’ll allow myself a little whining over my coffee. The sugar demon lives on my coffee counter.
For lunch, I had a big bowl of this stir fry. Ground beef and bison, broccoli, carrots, cabbage, mushrooms. Yum.
Tonight, we were all freezing and tired after surviving a Monday. So all 3 of us decided to fight for space on a small couch. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
For dinner, I put this Mexican Beef Stew in the crock pot. We had 2 bowls of it and I saved some for lunch the next day. This one is a definite keeper!
Thoughts on day 8: The cravings for my 3:00 pm ice cold Coke is dwindling. I’m more hungry at 3:00 than thirsty. The headache is gone. The mood is still just meh. I don’t reach for sweets automatically anymore. Other than the coffee thing, I’m not just a big ball of cravings for sugar. Food is starting to taste like food again. No more sugar-chemical-filmy taste that started up during the holidays. Food has distinctive tastes again. The carrots had sharp bites of almost sweet to them. I could taste the beef. My stir fry was an explosion of various tastes and textures. Very different from a week ago. Day 8 is done!
