Rock n Roll Virginia Beach Training

rnr vbeach begins

I registered for the Rock’n’Roll Virginia Beach half marathon last week! And this time, I’m actually going to stick to a plan and possibly continue the plan into a full marathon in December. Now that I’m signed up, I decided to stick to the tried-and-true Hal Higdon plan. His training plans have guided me to very successful races and I really want this fall’s half to be my best one yet. The course has some elevation and it will be humid in September. Aside from those, I think this is a great way to bring in the fall. Beach runs are always awesome!

Here is a glimpse of my training plan. I’m on week 2 right now and it has been mostly treadmill running with TS Cindy wreaking havoc on Alabama. This is his Novice 1 plan. Easy and gradual mileage with some cross training mixed in. My cross-training will be a mix of walking, hiking, and yoga. I’m starting back to CrossFit soon and that will be HEAVILY scaled. I’m basically starting over with heavy bar weights.

I may take a drive up to St. Louis in October, too. We shall see! If you want to register for a Rock’n’Roll race and need a discount, use this code. RNB15.
