I’m coming down to the end of marathon training and along with that comes the famed “taper madness”.
Common knowledge suggests that it takes a minimum of 2-3 weeks to recover from a 20+ mile training run. You want fresh legs on marathon day. However, I know from past races, that the prime time for me to get sick is during a 2 week taper for big races. It never fails. Big ol’ sinus infection even in the summer. I’m not doing another 20+ miler, so I will do a short form of a taper.
And it’s driving me mad. So many doubts right now if I can finish the darn thing. I even figured out my worst case scenario with the allowed time of 7:30:00. I’ve figured in potty stops, glucose testing stops(such a time drain), and stops to just jiggle and cry because this sucks.
Instead of rambling more about that, I have a nifty video to share. Most of you have probably seen this, but my mother has not and she is the only one who reads this blog, other than the hits for food porn.
Marathon Thoughts. Take away the nipple talk, throw in chub rub and this might be me. I hope so. I want to finish.
