It’s Game day here in T-Town and I love how Tuscaloosa comes alive with the excitement over a possible Alabama win. By whole town, I mean the WHOLE TOWN. You won’t have to look around more than once to see the Alabama love. This morning, I decided to get in a long walk (no running yet..not fast anyway) by the river and get some breakfast at a new place called Another Broken Egg Cafe. What drew me to this place is location and menu. It’s directly on the river and easily accessible from River Walk and the do NOT use pancake batter in their omelets. I know many places that do and I have to avoid them all.
I got my order to go so I could sit by the river and look for rowers and boats arriving for the game.
One of those mugs will rest in my coffee cup cabinet very soon…still picking out the color. Fall orange, spring blue, everyday purple or the obvious…Crimson.
Cream cheese, chorizo, loads of vegetables, and NO PANCAKE BATTER! It was very good.
After breakfast, I had to jump in some clean clothes and head to Birmingham and then to Jasper for a family lunch. Stephen was working so I was riding solo today. But I love the drive from Birmingham to Jasper and it didn’t take too long and of course, I had the pre-game show on with Eli Gold, the voice of the Crimson Tide for many many years.
But before I got too far out of town, I had to stop by Heritage House for my first pumpkin spice latte from there. It is better than Starbucks, hands down.
And a quick stop by Mary’s Cakes and Pastries for something special. Gluten-free coconut macaroons. I had never tried these but she convinced me to taste them if I like coconut. Who doesn’t love the flavor of coconut?? Anyway, these were a big hit. I ate one and saved one for dessert.
It was a beautiful day in Tuscaloosa and it ended with a quick stop by Hobby Lobby for some stickers. However…a bunch of these came home with me. I have crushed on my SIL’s white pumpkins for years. These were on sale and I wanted to use them in the bridal shower we were hosting. It’s pumpkin season in my house now!
Happy Saturday and welcome all the visitors for our first home game!
