The Great Fundraising Act: Happening NOW

I know I have a lot of new visitors checking out my site through Foodgawker and Tastespotting pictures,  and I want to use this opportunity to direct your attention to something very special going on right now.

Susan is a fellow blogger who recently went to the doctor for a pain in her neck and didn’t leave the hospital for weeks because she was diagnosed (3 weeks later) with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. You can read all about her story here.

Due to this devastating and shocking news, Janetha over at Meals and Moves decided to see if she could gather up a few donations to auction off to help Susan offset her medical bills. Susan is part of the Canadian health care system (similar to what the US is about to participate in) and while her medical bills are covered under her insurance, her medications are not. Cancer medicine costs thousands of dollars a month as many of us well know.

Janetha had a TREMENDOUS response and the auction is up right now. Read more about Susan and Janetha here.

If you would rather not join the bidding process, donations are GLADLY accepted.

LIVE AUCTION LIST HERE. Check for a list of items currently up for bid. There is a staggered bidding close time to prevent her server from crashing all at once…that’s how widespread this auction has become. And that is how powerful one idea can be in the hands of social media and common threads joining us in the blogging community. Unfortunately, cancer is another common thread with many of us. Let’s make the that health thread stronger by helping someone.
