Priorities: Mail and food.

Returning from vacation means I have to go on a wild goose chase for the mail. Normally, I go to my local post office and fill out the form for them to hold it. When I return, I go pick it up. Simple, right? Not this time. I went to pick it up and the nice post lady (I hate “postmistress”) said it was at the other office in a town a few miles away and NOT my town. Interesting. Anyway. I get it.

Here is what 2ish weeks of mail looks like.

Thankfully, no bills. Just magazines and some catalogues that might give me some summery inspiration to decorate my house. Not really, but I kept them anyway.

And the second priority is finding food. The fridge was empty but not for long. After a trip to the store and the bag of produce from our CSA, I believe I might be able to find plenty to eat without resorting to Frankie’s cat food. He’s a little possessive about his kibble.

Getting back to eating healthy, although I ate so much better on this trip than any other trip, is a big priority. I did lose a little weight while on vacation, but the last two days of driving and eating on the road left us both with the puffy sodium face.

As I’m writing this, thousands of people from Colorado Springs have just found out if they have homes to return to. Many do not. Our thoughts and prayers are with Colorado. Let’s hope the rest of the summer calms down and pray for early snows.
