Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!
My version of green eggs and ham—eggs on a green plate!
I often have people at work ask two things
- What are you eating?
- Cute bag! Where did you get it?
I have found that in order to keep my sugar levels happy, I need to eat small meals/snacks every 2-4 hours. If I leave home at 6am and stay in town for work/play until 6pm, then I’ve got a lot of meals to cover. I take food with me now wherever I go. Too many school cafeteria meals equals FAS—fat a$$ syndrome. It also means that I left my lunch bag on the counter and that does nothing for me.
I have been reading about the toxins in our plastics. More and more people are encouraging taking food in glass containers. That’s a nice idea, but I’m not taking a bag o’ glass to school with 5-6 year olds. I do check the numbers on the bottoms of my plastic containers. More on that later.
So, here is what I took today:
- Leftover Pork loin and field peas
- apple
- orange
- carrots
- grapes
- red pepper
- broccoli
- dipping-cashew butter, salsa, tzatziki
And here is my bag. (Frankie made a last-minute cameo appearance)
The answer to the question is: Target—BABY department. This is a diaper bag. It is fully lined so it’s easy to clean. I have thrown it in the washing machine on many occasions. It has side pockets for utensils, napkins, bottles of water, Exedrin, nerve pills, etc. ;-) It’s plenty big for all my food and it doesn’t look at all baby-ish.
Plus, it’s Eddie Bauer. They make very durable items. This was about 25$ and I’ve had it 3 years.
Dinner tonight was sausage/veggies with the roasted vegetable quinoa I made on Sunday. I got these nitrate-free chicken sausages from Target-Applegate Farms. They have an excellent assortment of organic and/or nitrate free meat products.
So, there it is. Lunch!

That's it...I'm visiting Target soon. I've been searching high and low for a good lunch bag, and yours is totally adorable. Never would have guessed it was a diaper bag.
