Farewell to the CSA

It’s been a while since I’ve talked about our weekly produce basket from our local CSA-community supported agriculture. I started with Snow’s Bend CSA in May and it ended this week. Throughout the spring, summer, and fall we’ve enjoyed a wide variety of produce each week. I pick the box up at our local health food store which also carries a lot of my gluten-free products. Over the past few weeks, I’ve had an abundance of greens!

I couldn’t get half of this variety at the grocery store nor would it have come from a few miles from my house.  This has been a great experience and I’m glad we participated. Many meals were made with just the produce from Alabama. I planned most weeks around what was harvested the week before. After 7 months, it’s a habit now. But, with the last week of the season here and gone, I’m going back to working with in season vegetables from the grocery store and eating the frozen soups and stews I preserved the last few weeks. We’ve had our first frost so the growing season has officially ended. Goodbye Fall. Hello winter!
