Blue Berries, Green Grass

I think I’m already back in teacher mode. I’m playing with colors and mixing them to see what kinds of creations I can make. Only instead of paint, I’m using food. I wonder what kind of art I could create with blueberry juice and grass powder?

Things are looking better. I’ve got a good head start on the classroom. I ran today. I also managed to throw something in the crock pot, wash a load of dishes, build my teacher page on the school website and update my class blog for the new school year. Now all I have to do is figure out what to wear, pack my gym bag, make my breakfast shake, figure out what to take for lunch tomorrow, and lay out clothes for crossfit. It’s 12am and I’m thinking I’ll try to do all that in the morning. I have a sneaky feeling I might sleep in tomorrow until I absolutely have to get up for teacher inservice.

After a long day of moving and dusting and re-organizing, I came home to an almost cooked dinner. I love the crock pot during the first few weeks of school. I don’t have to really think. I just come home and hope whatever I threw in at 4:30am is still edible and recognizable. But today, I didn’t really want it. It was pork loin and black eyed peas. I wanted something cold and good for me. And easy. I’m all about the easy right now.

Blueberry Mango smoothie

  • 1 cup of blueberries
  • 1/2 cup of chopped mango (I used frozen)
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 Tablespoon Amazing Grass. I’ve really been slacking on my vitamins and grass and I can tell that I’m lacking in basic nutrients.

Blend, enjoy! I like mine thick like a shake. If you want a more liquid consistency, add more milk or water.

Here is what my room looked like yesterday.

By 5pm Friday, I hope to see a BIG difference 🙂

And if I can get in a crossfit workout, enjoy a decent day of good food, drink my water, AND get a late afternoon run, I’ll be on top of the world. I’m excited about starting a new year and meeting new kids and parents. I’m excited about showing them all the good books and finding out their favorites kinds of books. I can’t wait to bring out the box of dinosaurs and see who runs to them and who keeps playing with play doh. I love the conversations with 5 year olds. I’m ready to begin! Okay, well I’ll be ready by next Wednesday. Until then, I have work to do and sleep to chase.

Oh, how exciting!! Best of luck with the new year and everything that it brings you. :D

Your smoothie sounds fabulous! I never thought of adding mango to my smoothie like that, but I can see how it would be totally delicious. :D
