Bento or bust

Check out my lunch.

IMG_4483 IMG_4482

Last week, I started putting my lunch together in one container so I could easily have it ready and not dig through multiple bags and bowls to figure out what I wanted for lunch, what to save for snacks and pre-run meals. Time goes by fast as a K teacher so I don’t have time to think about what I want to eat. I got a bento box with boxes to keep things separate but all together. In this one, I have the quinoa and edamame with some kale meatballs and this will be heated up. The rest: oranges, carrots/hummus, and mixed nuts. I also have a Babybel cheese bite if I feel like eating it.

Now I’ve got my breakfast shake ready

And I’m off to work out and then to a start of a 4 day week. I hope it’s going to be a good one.

I really like your bento box! Where did you find it?

It's from "laptop lunchbox". You can order online there and on Amazon. They have retailers, but nothing close to where I lived. I got the Laptop lunchbox 2.0 (the original is more shallow. This one is deeper). I also got the "bento buddies" which are extra boxes with LIDS.

I've done bento for several years now, Your box is one of the newer Americanized versions--I got hooked on bento boxes from Japanese mail order and Japantown when I visit larger cities. They are VERY addictive and tons of fun--innumerable designs, shapes, features. If you pack according to bento done Japan-style, you'll buy a box based on your gender and weight. You can find conversion charts on line--sort of like bento portion control :) Enjoy ... Who knows? You might get addicted!

I *love* bento boxes! I've always wanted to purchase one after seeing a cookbook entirely dedicated to them. I think it opens up all kinds of creative avenues for lunches/snacks. :D
