I LOVE Saturdays! Knowing this was the last real Saturday before I go back to work, I reverted back to my school-year routine. Up early, make breakfast that doesn’t involve a smoothie or warmed up quiche, Farmer’s market, Target, Grocery store, back home for the game! This time, since football is still 4 weeks away, my goal was to return home before the meds wore off and get in a quick run.
Pretty berries and fluffy eggs!
The secret to the fluff…1 Tbsp water+1 Tbsp milk. Add to pan when cooking the eggs.
It was already boiling hot by 8am. I got to the market early and found my fresh eggs. Those always seem to disappear first.
Fresh kale.
Shelled peas. Worth EVERY penny.
Apples are here!!
I love our market location by the river. I didn’t see the rowing team out today, but plenty of barge traffic.
Fresh lemonade for the road.
Today, I have 1 reason for going to Target.
.99 packs of glue sticks. A friend from TN posted this deal on FB and I knew I wanted to stock up.
Can you believe I got CARDED for buying rubber cement?? She had to verify that I was at least 30 and she didn’t think I looked over 30. That’s what happens when I choose “gym grunge” wear to go to the store. ponytail, hat, no makeup, and college T.
Starbucks card comes in handy when I’m trying to channel in the fall. I chose hot coffee + shot of espresso.
I got back with my haul from the market. I got eggs, kale, fresh corn, shelled peas, okra, green tomato, and 2 apples. I got all that put away and got busy bagging my salsa. 2 Crockpots and 1 stockpot yielded 4 quarts of salsa and 4 quarts of tomato juice. That was all from a 5-gallon bucket of tomatoes.
This was the only shot of dinner I have. Stephen loves a cut up green tomato with his fried okra. I only make this when okra is fresh in the summer. Boiled corn and peas finished out the meal.
I got in 3 miles and a big nap. Not bad for the last Saturday of summer break for me.
