Friday Favorites May

2018 Friday Favorites

I’ve got a short quick rundown of some new favorite things! Let’s get started. May is speeding by faster than a Kardashian divorce and I’ll be packing up soon for our Colorado trip. Today was the last day of school and I honestly do not know if I should be dancing a boozy tune for summer or bawling in my dark basement (I don’t have a basement, but if I did…imagery, people) because this year’s group of kids were my BEST group. Anyway, moving on. Favorite things on the last Friday in May.

1. Baby Teeth

I love book mail. It’s so much better than bills or stinking advertisement cards. Literally, stinking perfume cards from Ulta. STOP IT, ULTA!!

In the few short months that I’ve created my book blog, some publishers have stared to send me hard copies of advanced readers. This week, St. Martin’s Press sent Baby Teeth. And it sounds like a major creepy suspenseful story. I love creepy stories.

Meet Hanna.
She’s the sweet-but-silent angel in the adoring eyes of her Daddy. He’s the only person who understands her, and all Hanna wants is to live happily ever after with him. But Mommy stands in her way, and she’ll try any trick she can think of to get rid of her.

I can’t wait to read this one by the campfire. I’ll have a review up in a couple of weeks, but if you want to pre-order, here is the Amazon link.

2. The perfect Keto summer drink

This is from Heritage House, a local (and my favorite) coffee house. Cold brew (less acidic), whole milk or cream, sugarfree white chocolate. Specialty coffee drinks are the ONLY times I drink sugar free anything. I don’t like aspartame and try to limit my exposure to it. Summer cold coffee treats are the exception. Heritage House makes a much better cold brew than Starbucks, hands down.

3. Erin Condren Life Planner.

When I get back from our trip, I’ll have a fully updated thorough review of the Life planner for 2018-19. Until then, here is my first order for this new academic year. Life planner, meal planner, workout planner, week at a glance, sidebar checklists, and stickers. Love love love my Erin Condren.

4. Running books and magazines.

Summer brings about serious life-dragging heat and humidity, but it also brings about a new perspective on running. I hope to have a more detailed post about this summer thing later, but this is what I’m reading this week and plan to take on vacay. This book, Life’s Too Short is a game-changer.  Not many books make me cry. Not many things at all make me cry, but this one had me ugly crying in my bacon. READ IT, even if you’re not nor never plan to be a runner.

My favorite running magazines are Runner’s World and Women’s Running.

5. Wine in a can

Not since the Son’s of Anarchy Jameson in a juice box have I been speechless over booze.

Y’all. At our Go Wild planner/small business conference, we were treated to wine in a can that was served on the shuttle to the Erin Condren store in Austin. I chose the white and had a fantastic time on the 30 minute drive over to EC Austin.

That’s all for this month’s roundup! I know it’s not the first Friday, but I’m hanging on by a very thin thread lately. Now that school is out, I’m going to pretend that I’ll get my ducks in a row. But in all honesty, I’ve got 6 days to pack up for 3.5 weeks out west. No ducks will be in a row. I’ll have a rave of squirrels, maybe.

Happy Friday!
