My random thoughts for today:
~I was a slacker this morning!
~I have issues with my exclamation point!
~Why are people such meanholes?!
~ Why did Jimmy crack corn and if I don’t care, why is there a song about it?
~I need new shoes!
~According the Glenn Beck, shoe prices have risen 45% in the past two years!
~I guess I need to move to China so I can have cheap shoes!
~It’s only Wednesday!
Ever hear people give health advice or ask questions and you think…..what??
1. Muscle weighs more than fat.
No it doesn’t. 16 oz of muscle is exactly the same weight as 16oz of fat. 16oz is 16oz. Muscle is more dense but takes up less space as fat.
2. Why does mineral water that ‘has trickled through mountains for centuries’ have a ‘use by’ date? I have no idea….?
3. Eat too much sugar and you’ll catch diabetes (or my favorite..diabetus).
First of all, you can’t catch diabetes. Second, sugar does not cause it. Genetics has more to do with it than anything else. HOWEVER, a sedentary lifestyle and obesity are risk factors for Type 2 diabetes.
4. Gum takes 7 years to digest.
Wrong. It will pass right on through like that rock, penny, or lego that you swallowed as a kid.
5. Eat too many carrots and you’ll turn orange.
YES! This is true. It’s called carotenosis. But you have to eat or juice a lot of them. It will make you look like a bad 80’s spray on tan.
Check this out. One of the student teachers for my special needs child came in this morning with a big basket of cookies for all the teachers that she worked with this year. She gave me a separate bag because she looked up a recipe for low sugar/no sugar cookies and made them just for me. How cool is she?? She has one more year of school before earning her elementary degree, but I know she will be an AWESOME teacher. That made my morning. 🙂 Here is what is left after I devoured them. I didn’t notice until after I took the pic that on my lesson plans at the bottom, you see what I’m teaching in science…nutrition.
It’s raining and cold here and I’m loving Alabama fall time. Time for me to go eat a bunch of sugary carrots and drink some aging mineral water so my muscles will weigh more than fat.
