I’m ready for some football!

It’s my favorite Saturday of the year!!! It’s the day of the Alabama-Tennessee Game. This rivalry goes back many many years and is called Third Saturday in October (although this is the 4th Saturday due to 5 Saturdays this year). For more long drawn out info on the rivalry, feel free to click on over to wiki where someone gave us a page dedicated to Third Saturday in October.

Today will be a long day of tailgating at the Quad and then going to the game. I’m so ready to whip up on some TN people. I know their new coach is nice and probably a lot more classy than Fat Ass Phil Fulmer, but I can’t erase 10 years of living in TN and dealing with their fans. I wore my A flag proud in the middle of Memphis even during the bad years, never thinking I would one day live in Tuscaloosa and watch them live. I’ve been waiting many years to personally escort them to the front row for the 3 hours they’ve been dreading. I rarely talk trash on my blog about football, because I know one single event—injury, sun in the eyes, slipped on the turf, personal diversions, etc—can change the game. But today is an exception.

Speaking of trashy, yesterday was trash day and we didn’t have anything to roll down to the curb. Why? I didn’t cook much this week. I came in late from MS and just never got to the grocery store. We ate stuff out of the freezer and no meat. I made soup one night. The other nights were either eating out-twice-or various frozen vegetables and pasta. I’m ready for fresh produce again. I love the ease of frozen, but this cold weather has me reaching for winter squashes, vegetables for roasting, and soup.

Happy Saturday! I’m headed to the store and get the game day cupcake—Jack Daniels, a Tennessee bourbon flavored cake. I know this one will be interesting.
