Wednesdays in the Ark

I think it’s safe to say we are no longer in a drought here in Alabama. I’m not sure how much rain has fallen in the past 48 hours, but when the frogs are jumping in herds on the road AWAY from the river, I know we’ve reached a good saturation.

I skipped breakfast. I suffered through the workout. And the rest of my day was crap-tacular food choices, not enough water for the amount of medicine I’m taking, and overall feeling like a warmed over frozen burrito—limp and not near as good as the original. In fact, the only thing that went right today was overcoming the urge to stay home in the hurricane force winds and actually going to the gym. But it all fell apart after that. However, being a teacher, I can still learn all kinds of great things even while I’m teaching…..

  • I learned that a vicious stomach virus has hit the class and I’m just crossing all appendages that I don’t catch it.
  • I learned that sympathy vomiting really does exist. Two of us found  that out today.
  • I learned that when the whole class didn’t sleep well during the storms, we are just one giant cranky mess.
  • I learned that it’s possible to have two headaches at one time—one from lack of sleep that hits me behind my eyes and the sinus pressure one that lights up my face.

So let’s focus on the good things:

lunch3

I did pack good food….and it will be just as good for me tomorrow!

soup2

I LOVE having bowls of frozen meals ready for when I don’t feel like turning on a stove. Clean black eyed pea soup with lots of vegetables is wonderful for warming me up and helping clear my head.

Tomorrow will be a much better day. I’m sure of it!

CrossFit WOD
10 rounds of the following:

  • 10 double unders (double jump ropes)
  • 10 burpees
  • 10 wall balls with 15lb medicine ball

Today’s Food Journal
B1: nothing before workout. bad mistake.
B2: yogurt with granola
L: spicy chicken bites, navy beans, broccoli rice
D: taco soup
Thoughts: Not near enough food, too much salt from lunch (cafeteria), too many hours between meals, low in vegetables and fruit.
