It came upon a midnight clear

The idea for a Christmas tree in my kitchen popped in my head late one night as I was wrapping presents and rearranging yet another ornament on the main tree. I think I said “I need one of those little mini trees in my kitchen”.

Well, I went a little overboard.

It is my gingerbread/kitchen tree. It started out with about 15 ornaments and some plastic candy canes. Each year, I add a couple more. This year, I wanted cupcakes because of my obvious fascination with them.

One of the biggest joys of the season is cooking and baking in the kitchen. We have an open floor plan so I can have music or a movie going while I’m busy spinning flour to extreme distances and burning chocolate.

Since I was out of just about anything I could use to make a cupcake, I went by Sweets to see what they had for the weekend. I found this red velvet all dressed up for Christmas. It has a white chocolate cream cheese frosting that is a perfect blend of tangy and sweet. cupcakefinalpart2

It has been a few weeks since I’ve had a cupcake and I wasn’t disappointed. They still have the best tasting “cake” in town. It’s always fluffy, but I do try to get a really fresh one. They leave updates on their facebook page telling us what is baking and soon to be iced.

Since Christmas is almost here, I am a little sad to know that all my holiday dishes and mugs are soon to be shoved back in a box. I have enjoyed having them out and I have definitely used them more since I can easily see them. Another huge thank you to Stephen for building my dream cabinet.
