This was a huge undertaking, but we undertook it and finally finished. For the past few years, we’ve had discussions on what we wanted in a dining room. Since our house has an open floor plan, the dining area is part of the kitchen and I hope future houses have the same plan. I like big open spaces for cooking and dining. I didn’t have a preference in the shape of the table, but I did have a preference in style. I did not want traditional queen Anne type of stuff. I like a sturdy farmhouse without the spindly chairs. After our trip to Colorado, I found the type of table I wanted. Rustic. Slightly distressed. A table with a story. One Craigslist find later, we were ready to start refinishing. We had a few mishaps along the way. We bought way too many chemicals that might explain why Stephen twitches when he smells latex gloves. We also went back and forth over the stain color. We wanted as far away from brown without going grey or black. We settled on Grapevine which has a hint of purple and wine and it turned out BEAUTIFUL!!

Frankie hid behind my shoes during the installation. He wasn’t too sure about this. But this is from the cat who hid under the bed covers for two full days after we moved in the treadmill. I hate to see what he does when we put in all the leaves and expand this thing to its maximum 8ft long. I may have to peel him off the ceiling.

The table is gorgeous! I love the purple hues to it, they really make the table look great :) Awesome job!!
