Slowly We Die-Book Review

slowly we die

Slowly We Die is the third book in a series by Swedish author,  Emily Schepp. I highly recommend reading the first 2 books before settling into Slowly We Die.

Someone is killing people and using medical scalpels to end their lives. Special Prosecutor Jana Berzelius is assigned to the case and she finds an old case with similarities she can’t ignore. She also has to consider that the recent death of her mother was not an accident. She might be the latest victim of a murderer in the medical community. While Jana races to investigate and find the person responsible, she also has her own spinning plates of dark secrets she can’t afford to reveal. Add in some great character development with paramedics Philip and Sandra, Jana’s friend Per, and several members of the police force and this book takes on a life of its own. It took a little while to get into but I had not read the first two books.

I love a good police procedural and this book hit those points. Jana was a fantastic character, even if she seemed cold and distant. At times,  I wondered how all these characters and subplots would come together, and Emily wove them together brilliantly. Thank you to NetGalley for the copy for my honest opinion.
