You’ve got to be kidding me.

It looks like I’m headed back to the dr. The sinus infection seems to be starting all over again complete with intense face/ear pain and that lovely pumpkin head feeling that makes me wobbly. Penicillin just isn’t what it used to be. I went and bought the illegal-if-you-look-sketchy Sudafed and Mucinex yesterday before a half day data meeting at school. That did NOTHING to break this pressure.

BUT, other than that, I’m still healthy and alive to tell about it. I just wish I could go workout this morning. I may go this afternoon AFTER I go to the dr and get all shot up again and have that 12 hour window of goodness. It’s a WOD for the CrossFit Open, which I’ll detail later when I have more brain cells awake. I’m laying off the coffee because caffeine just doesn’t work well on inflamed sinuses and I’m drinking a LOT more oj lately. Got to get that folic acid in.

I’ve been very impressed with My Fitness Pal. It’s a web based calorie counter  that also tracks the fitness information from my Fitbit. I’ve been using that little gadget to track my sleep, steps, and calories from those steps. The food database for MFP is very extensive and the iPhone app is very user friendly. I’ve raised my daily calorie goal to 1800 and I’ve hit that goal the past 3 days. I’m down 3 lbs since Sunday. I haven’t eaten absolutely perfect food (hello….Pizza Hut binge???) but I have raised my calories significantly. I realize that I can’t eat those extra calories in crap food. If I were only a couple of hundred calories below my BMR, I don’t think it would be a big deal. But according to what I was eating, I was about 700-800 below my BMR and I think my body just got stuck. I’ve never tracked calories before because it was just too much effort for the foods I like to eat. I love soups and stir fries and all kinds of flavors mixed together. It just takes time to measure and figure and I’m NOT a math genius. I bet my mother is laughing at this comment. She knows the real reason I teach Kindergarten…..that’s about all the math I can handle 😉

I have zero appetite for breakfast so I think it will be a smoothie I can force down. Happy Thursday.

smoothie

  • 4 large strawberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 5 ice cubes
  • 1 scoop of Amazing Grass berry

Combine all in a blender and smooth it up.
