There’s no place like home

It’s a quiet evening. Dinner—Black and Bleu Sliders

Clean dishes. Everybody Loves Raymond. Things are peaceful as I’m typing away and surfing for the latest news on food network humor. Frankie is sprawled out in all his fuzzy butt glory.

Then I hear it.

A drill or some other power tool.

Some tense language muttered here and there.

And oozing noises.

What in the world is going on in my kitchen?

So, I put the computer down and peek around the corner.

It’s too graphic to show here so I cleverly hid the evidence behind the cracker box (by the way, the Town House Flatbreads in salt and oil are AMAZING).

He’s cleaning fish. On my island. IN the kitchen.

I’m a carnivore. I love fish. I love how I grew up with fish. Nice pale fillets. I only saw my grandfather cleaning fish a few times and that was it. I don’t need to see the whole thing. For most of my life, if anyone in the family wanted me to cook fish, they knew to present me with the ready-to-cook package of nicely cleaned fish.

And up until today, I don’t believe fish cleaning has occurred in my kitchen. Complete with 5 gallon bucket and electric knife.

But i’m not one to look a gift fisherman in the face and say “ew!!!!”

If he brings in the water hose, I’m running far away.

Frankie had a similar perspective.

“tell me when I can look”

An hour before the above scene, I had some leftover Black and Bleu Sliders that were SUPPOSED to be for the football games. But by the time we had bacon cheese dip and cupcakes, there wasn’t room for a slider.

Such an angry burger like this will definitely ignite my hubby and kids appetite. It looks so delectable and I'm gonna prepare this version.
