This beautiful morning after an intense evening of watching the capture of the Boston bomber, I found myself reaching for this mug.
It’s a perfect reminder that I need to join the living again. There are so many thoughts going on this week with regards to our national security and my personal reactions to Boston and the marathon. And now that one part of the puzzle is solved, I now need to process it in my own time and my own ways.
This mug is from a favorite small business of mine. The Universe Knows. Check out the mission statement:
to remind people of the wisdom that resides within, and inspire strength and courage to live with passion and purpose.
They definitely understand their mission.
A couple of weeks ago, I returned to racing starting with a half-marathon. While I was packing for the trip, I picked up this notebook.
And when I woke up on race day, overcome with nerves, I read this page. I feel like it was written just for me. Words like “over-analyze”, “judge ourselves too strongly”, and “worry” adequately describe my thoughts. At time, I really am my own worst enemy.
If you visit the Universe Knows site, you will find mugs, shirts, stationary, tote bags and decals. My favorite part of the site is exploring the “sayings”. They have many inspirational and motivational phrases for all of their products. These make great gifts for others and yourself!
One thing that really resonated with me is reading the history and timeline of the company. It all started with one man who had a passion and he didn’t let anything stop him. He was “successful” in his cooperate world, but felt like he was existing…not LIVING. I’ll let you read the rest, but this isn’t just a way to earn a living for this family. It’s an innate desire to make the world a better place, one mug or one hoodie at a time.
