The sun rises again

When life really wears on me, I need to step back, disconnect, and just lay low with my family. This past week was a challenging one. We have some health concerns in my family and this past Friday marked the one year since my father in law, Brodie, lost his battle with Leukemia. It seems bad news travels in packs and this week was no exception. I had to just get my head wrapped around things. I didn’t cook much. I snacked and grazed on good clean food, but just didn’t have the heart to cook anything.

One good highlight from last week is my decision to stop ALL antibiotics, sinus medication, headache medication, ulcer medication, etc. and switch to a more natural approach. I drank a ton of vegetables, fruit smoothies, whole aloe for my ulcer, amped up my intake of wheatgrass and vitamins. I also completed a full week of crossfit and 3 days of running. I haven’t done that since I got sick in November. It felt great. I almost enjoyed the soreness because it kept my mind off the sad things.

This is a new week, and I’m ready to rejoin the race again. Tonight, I’ll have a more detailed post of my weekend cooking…yes, I cooked my tail off yesterday…and my plans for spring racing.

Thanks for checking in on me. I can tell from my stats, that I’ve got an amazing group of followers checking in to see what’s up with me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
