The Midnight Train

Happy FRIDAY!!!

When I’m on summer break during the 8 weeks of June and July, I freely admit that I take Fridays for granted. During those weeks, Friday is just another day with the same 24 hours wide open for the opportunity to be a fantastic parade of awesome or a soul-ripping bad gravel road. It’s just a day.

However..in the world of Kindergarten teachers and all working people on M-F shift, Fridays are coveted and treasured more than the Hope diamond ever dreamed. Waking up on a Friday is just nothing but smiles. This morning, I woke up after sleeping for 14.25 hours. I do not recall ever sleeping that long in my adult life. That first round of marathon sleeping after returning from a senior trip overseas may have been close, but I don’t think so. I do not remember anything after closing the computer last night at 5:45. I woke up at 7am in a frantic rush to find my Friday jeans and school tshirt. I don’t think there was much smiling until halfway to school when I remembered I had a big thermos of hot coffee in my hand.

It was a great day and by “great”, I mean that I didn’t die from coughing. The weather was nothing but cold wet crap and it will be a miracle if we are not all on life support by Monday. Short sleeves on Wednesday, snow coats and boots on Friday.

day 19

Tonight, I came home and fell asleep again, but just for a couple of hours. My body is not happy with anything right now. The sugar cravings are gone, but so are the cravings for anything. I’m nauseous from the medicine and food just doesn’t sound good. I had some potatoes for lunch because it’s a neutral starch that I knew didn’t irritate anything. This Whole30 is definitely going to be extended. I need some solid weeks of actual food. I know I’m losing weight, but I should be devouring real good food. No Tiger blood yet. In fact, I feel like the tiger has whooped my tail already.

Breakfast: Coffee

Lunch: potatoes

Dinner: 2 scrambled eggs with ham

Other: a metric ton of water, enough pills to choke a horse,  and 4 mandarins

Friday is done, maybe Saturday will be full of vitality.
