Telluride time is turning…Colorado Day 8

Today is hiking and another trip to town for coffee. It’s a long story.

After the crazy hike on Monday, today was supposed to be an “easy 3”. We were toast after the first hour. The elevation wasn’t that bad, 1,300ft but about halfway up, we decided to call it a day and go into town for some ground coffee to take home. And maybe some lunch in town.

Lizard Head pass.

During breakfast at the hotel, Stephen asked the chef about the brand of coffee. It was really smooth and bold but not bitter. Too many coffees are bitter to me. This was really rich. Jeremy said it was from…..the Steaming Bean. I wanted to take a bag home.

Coffee in hand, time to find a food cart. I had the chicken wrap, he had the hot dog.

This is the last full day we have here. Tomorrow early, we start the long drive across the Grand Mesa up to Estes Park. We called ahead of time to ask about the close proximity to the High Park Fire which was growing each day with little containment. Estes Park is about 30 miles south west of Fort Collins, but the fire was heading north east, away from us. Time is quickly passing by.
