Best news: I have my Maple Pancake and Bacon Cupcake.

As soon as I was let loose from the dr., I made a quick trip to a new cupcake place, Sweet’s Cupcakes and Cookies, to grab a Hog cupcake. We are playing the Arkansas Razorbacks today so they made a Maple Pancake and Bacon cupcake. As soon as I read this on their facebook page, I HAD to try it. I called them when I got stuck in game day traffic to make sure they had one left. The nice guy who answered said they did and how many did I need. I told him I only needed 1 and I would be there soon. When I walked in, he was decorating one for me. It has tiny bacon pieces IN THE CAKE and topped with icing, then drizzled with a maple syrup. For the game weekend, they put a little hog snout on top. I thought it was adorable.

But how did it taste?

So good I wanted to swan dive in the middle. It had a touch of salt and that complimented the maple flavor. It tasted just like you dipped bacon in your pancake syrup. Don’t lie…you know you do it when nobody is looking 😉

I wish I had the pictures from a wonderful morning of tailgating in Tuscaloosa. The crowds, the kids, the FOOD! Unfortunately all I’ve got is this:

The view from my cave at the dr. office.

The other view in my cave.

And port # 3 with uncool, boring band-aid over collapsed vein from port #2

And I’m so thrilled to know I’ve got 2-4 more days of this, depending on my protein counts.

I did manage to rest at home, catching up on some reading while waiting for the game. I was a little miffed when I saw the cover of the Southern Living. Not enough fall colors for me. It looks like a spring garden with a few random pumpkins thrown on the steps. But, they didn’t ask my opinion so I guess they didn’t want to know that readers in the south who have been melting for 6 months want to at least SEE fall even if we can’t feel it.

See that bottle of water up there? He has lots of friends. LOTS of friends. And I have to drink them. Or get an all expense paid trip to a room with a view at the hospital and a staph infection as a free gift.

And even though I’m not cooking anything extravagant, I have some spinach artichoke dip left over from last week. And it was just as good as last Saturday.

As of right now, the score is 38-14 Bama in the lead with 9:32 left in the 4th. We’ve got to hold the lead.
