Perfect Saturday!

The day started off with a beautiful trail run. The trail was a little muddy, but the canopy of trees filtered out a lot of pollen so the air was cleaner. I ran 10.7 hard miles. I felt good, though. No pain, the knee and hip were quiet. It seems I’m finally out of my 2 year agony with IT band/hip stress fracture issues. As long as I stretch and keep my shorter leg strengthened, I should be able to keep the IT band happy. I still have some hip bursitis at times. I foam roll daily. And I remember when I was deep in physical therapy and only able to run TENTHS of a mile before agonizing knee or hip pain flared up. I remember all the anger and frustration. I remember wondering if I would ever run again.

It seems the answer is yes 😉

After that, I cleaned my 4runner, grabbed a few things from the store, and went home for a hot shower and a long nap. It was glorious. Sheer bliss. I should live like this everyday, but there is that whole need a job to pay the bills thing. Always a monkey in every wrench. Or something like that. maybe?

Dinner was the first time to grill out this year. I’ve been ready to fire up the grill. And in true redneck fashion,

hang on….hilarious commercial just came on. Doggie Dentures…ahahahahahahahahaha. Love the grill on that dog! (see how I cleverly tied these two non-related items together by the use of “grill”…I’m a literary genius. And yes, I did just go there)

Anyway, in true redneck fashion, I had a ton of grilling stuff that I did not need. All that was missing was the wife-beater shirt, a cold beer, and a trucker cap with the mud flap girl on it. If I had those, I would be styling in redneck chic.

Days like this do not come around every weekend. I so enjoyed this one.
