Let’s Get Real: Teacher Edition

This sums up our day yesterday.

Last night was Open House and there is nothing a group of teachers love more than sitting in a training meeting trying to keep the cursing in their heads instead of sharing with the group when the trainer asks “Does anybody have any thoughts?” We all need to be at our schools, in our classrooms, getting prepared to meet and greet new students and parents. Most years, it’s not this bad. This year, it seemed like there was an intentional conspiracy to keep the teachers in a school far away from their home school and under lock and key for 8 hours. Even the presenter apologized for the rules and format they were given and told to execute 100%.

At least we had this. Food. For teachers, eating with other adults is a luxury. We soak up all the lunch breaks on these training days because we know it will not happen again until January training days.

Today, however, the sun is shining bright on all of us. We had Open House last night. We survived Open House. Now we get today to put away supplies, plan lessons, and eat from a food truck. Yes, it is just that fabulous.

Our PTO is the most amazing group ever. Who knew a food truck could be so great?? To put this in perspective, our town just got the food truck license in the past couple of months. It’s a new thing here, but not to me. I’m a food truck addict. They are all over Colorado and I must try a new one in every town we visit.

This one did not disappoint. AT ALL. Pastor’s Kitchen. Mexican food on a truck. Today couldn’t be any better.

One more day until the school year begins!

And I need to go for a run. All this good food is not good for my non-stretchy jeans.
