Headed to the Lake

Most years, my birthday (St. Patrick’s Day) falls right in the middle of Spring Break. That is why I have usually had a “birthday week” because I always had a week away from school on my birthday.

This year spring break is the last week of March and I guess it’s about time I grew up and just got used to one day to enjoy getting older and then move on with work and life.

But where is the fun in that??

I came up with the grand idea to get away for a long weekend to celebrate. We decided to go camping. Together. For the first time. Both of us have camped many times with our families, but this is the first time we have camped together. I wanted adventure and I hope this weekend is overflowing with it!

However…thanks to the monster stomach virus going around, I’m lying here begging for death. I don’t think the body is supposed to dry heave this much. I’m no expert, but this isn’t normal.

2 Benadryl and 8 hours later, we pile in the truck and on our way. I don’t plan to eat again, ever, so I’m good as long as I keep a dose of Benadryl going. That stuff is amazing for anti-nausea. It’s the main ingredient in Dramamine, the air-sickness medicine. It works wonders.

First aid kit full of meds I hope I don’t need.

Food I don’t plan on eating. Remember, I’m never eating again. I can’t throw up anything if I don’t eat. Great plan, right??

camp2

Kitchen stuff for cooking food that I don’t plan on eating….you get the picture.

Stephen’s luggage of choice.

I crawled in the truck around 2pm and woke up somewhere in north Alabama around the lake. Let the Birthday festivities begin!
