Almond Breeze Challenge-Share Our Strength

A few weeks ago, Almond Breeze and Foodbuzz asked Featured Publishers to participate in the Almond Breeze Taste and Make a Difference Challenge. Of the applicants, Foodbuzz chose 5 publishers and I’m thrilled to announce that I was one of them!! What does this mean? $25,000 is at stake. We each chose one charity to participate in an online voting process to determine how the money should be distributed.

My charity is the Share Our Strength Organization. This organization focuses their efforts in child nutrition, which is near and dear to me as a teacher. I know first hand, that hungry children are already facing educational disadvantages. Share Our Strength is heavily involved in child nutrition programs in schools, HEALTHY school lunch programs, providing access to fresh produce at reduced prices for families, education in making better food choices at home, and educating parents in the importance of breakfast for their children. Share Our Strength also organizes the Great American Bake Sale, which many bloggers participate and raise funds for childhood nutrition services. Operation Frontline is a cooking based education program that teaches people how to cook healthy, nutritious meals at home AND on a budget.
